Director of Youth Ministry (Part-Time)

Description:

The Director of Youth Ministries, in a part-time position, will give leadership to a comprehensive Christian youth ministry for youth at Bethany Presbyterian Church.

To provide personal leadership in the development of a youth ministries program in which youth experience:

• Fellowship occasions (both regular meetings and special events) which are fun and provide opportunity to know and be known by others; Learning the basic tenets of the Christian faith and how to apply fundamental Christian values to life situations;
• Participation in a small group which promotes sharing and accountability;
• Exposure to and participation in mission and ministry.
• Development as leaders; and
• Preparation for serving as an ambassador of Christ to others.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To get to know and establish a positive relationship with each young person in the congregation.
• To provide consistent weekly opportunities for the youth of the church to learn in conjunction with the Christian Education Department. 
• To provide a weekly youth service that is worshipful, fun, relevant, and effective in instructing, training, nurturing, and launching youth into Christian service.
• To attend monthly session meetings endeavoring to work closely with the elders and pastor to coordinate the youth activities, calendar and vision with all other areas of church life.
• To coordinate youth-oriented retreats, outings and summer camp activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Christian Discipleship:

• Has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ based on a commitment to prayer and God’s Word
• Manifests a call to youth ministry

Interpersonal Skills:

• Demonstrates good rapport with students
• Capable in recruiting, training, and supporting coordinators, leaders and volunteers
• Displays personal openness, integrity and honesty in interpersonal relationships
• Works well with the church staff, leadership and parents of youth

Ministry Skills:

• Dynamic teacher (able to teach tenets of the Christian faith, fundamental Christian values and how to apply these to life situations)
• Administrative leadership and coordination
• Musical skills desired

Education and Experience:

• Minimum 60 credits in human services related field, Christian studies related field; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Ability to speak Spanish strongly preferred
• Youth Ministries education or degree desired
• Demonstrated leadership in youth ministries in a church or parachurch is required.

WAGES:

• Monthly stipend: $400

• Hours: As Needed (estimated 5-10 hours per week)

• Mileage & Cell Phone Reimbursement
